Good afternoon,
We are running a LS2515 with the standard extraction unit supplied, but with very poor results. Fumes and smoke rise from the cutting point and around the material, completely failing to be drawn away underneath the bed.
Can anyone suggest any ideas for improving the extraction capabilities on this machine?
Thanks
Tom
Extraction for the LS2515
Re: Extraction for the LS2515
this is one of the bigger machines supplied by HPC,
I'm interested to hear how you find it
as we are looking for a new/bigger laser than the one we have at the moment
on to your problem...........
the better the extraction, the better the cut you get
your extract fan is trying to extract smoke from a large bed size area
if you can mask off or cover the area that is not being used, this will localise the extraction and so enhance the extraction
of the smoke at the area you are working with
failing that, I guess you would need a much bigger extraction unit
on our laser we have top/side and bottom extraction which ensures clean cutting of upto 20mm acrylic

I use one of these on my 6840

Without the bag of course (vented outside)!
I do need to keep the flap down, or at least partially down at the front, otherwise there is not enough of an inlet to suck the air through. No idea if it is suitable for a much larger machine though! Optimising the airflow from a good sized extractor would be preferable.
