Horizontal belt on a 3020

Post by Leon »

We've been happily lasering for a while, but something else has come up now!

It was in the middle of a run tonight, when suddenly the head stopped moving. The belt anchoring roller/runner thing on the left hand side (underneath the black plastic horizontal strip) has come loose, so the belt is now dangling freely underneath the laser head. The left hand bolt/screw is still in place, but is barely still threaded to the roller. I've managed to get the belt back onto the runners at both ends (with only minor self-injury!), but there's no tension on it as the runner/roller is still loose.

The space to work in down the left side is too small for my hands, and I can't get any purchase on the screw/bolt to tighten it up. There's not enough room for a screwdriver either. So, is there anyway of undoing something to allow me better access?

The screw is to the bottom left of where Mirror 2 is in this pic, and I'm trying to work in that gap behind Mirror 2:

Any help would be awesome, as I really can't afford to have the machine offline for long.

I think you would have to take the whole rail off, or perhaps remove the bed and the table.

If you line the rail up with the round access plate near the left front of the machine does that give you better access?

Apologies for not getting back earlier, I got a couple of matchsticks and and managed to get my fingers under the rail just enough to pop the belt back on. Took a while though!
