hi all

just received my machine yesterday, now its play time !!
I am trying to cut some circles for a project to play with but they are coming out with flats, now i remember the gent who setup and installed, said there was a setting equivalent to dpi and I cant remember ( should of wrote it down ), will that help make the circles round or is there a better way.
Thanks for any help

Paul

Hi Paul,

Chris was probably referring to the scan gap which is an engraving feature. A lower scan gap value will result in better quality yet slower engraving times.

Hope that helps. :D

Hiya Paul,

What drawing package are you using?

When you cut do you suddenly get a big flat on the circle for no apparent reason?

best wishes

Dave

Hi Dave

sorry for the late reply got called in to do some real work !!

I was using 2d Design to trace round the circles or items with large curved area then export just playing with the machine and the software, i guess as i was tracing the line, the points were 2 far apart. When i used the circle tool they came ok. so the question is there anyway to smooth the curved sections and loose the flats

thanks again

Hi Paul
when you export do you get an option to export as dxf ? make sure you export as curves - try to export as plt from lasercut this may work better.
Then as a test in lasercut draw the circle then dimension i.e 50 x 50mm see how this looks then you get a view for the cut shape .
hope this helps

If you get stuck Paul, send it over and I'll mod the polys into circles or curves for you.

best wishes

Dave

Hi paul,
You'll just have to watch out for 2d not quite doing what you'd expect when tracing!!! Broken poly lines / I closed vectors is a good one, just import into lasercut and then Tools / Check Date. This will point out any problems..
Cheers Simon
