Is it just in this type of industry?
I spend thousands of pounds to acquire a wonderful piece of technology that comes with a set of instructions that look like they are a primary school project, printed on bits of paper that are pushed into a twenty pence folder. Then when you have read them, you actually don't know anything about your purchase.
Why do I then have to search forums for basic instruction like what do the main menu buttons do? And how to tell the laser to remember a position by pressing enter twice ?
Can you imagine Mercedes selling you a car with instructions similar to mine? So I have to look on a forum to learn how to open the boot.
I think not.
Can anyone tell me where I can find full instructions of what every menu command, including special button combinations, is for on my 1290 laser please.
Thanks
Why do I have to search forums to discover how my laser works?

Sometimes to much information can be a bad thing - have a look here, select the manual for the card installed in your machine and have a read. Don't be tempted to change any settings that you don't feel comfortable with changing and be prepared to call HPC if you do something that puts the machine out of service. Trust me - I know!!
The manual and training HPC provide should be enough to get you started but I don't think even Mercedes manual would be enough for someone who has never been inside a car! The forum is here to help other users or you can book more training with HPC if required.

I've never known a car to come with free driving lessons
Also HPC with all due respect is not quite comparable to Mercedes Benz, they are a small company that in my mind have grown very fast and are under a lot of pressure from customers all over the country. They could devote some time and money into updating their website, making professional instruction packages but from what I've seen they are very busy and that can only be a good thing.
Find me another laser cutter company in the UK that has their level of dedication to the industry.
Also the forum is solid, if you search back it's been here for 5+ years and many (repeat) issues have been supported and fixed.
Do you think you'd have such good support if you'd have bought one of those cheap lasers direct from China?
Or what if you'd have splashed out extra on a US one with their one UK agent?
