Good morning all,
I have been trying to work out how to just Ingrave an outline. Without removing all of the middle bit is well. I was messing about with some of the settings last night but I just couldn't get it to not remove the middle? At the moment I'm working on Birch face ply but would also like to know if it's different for acrylic I presume not.
Quite new and still learning
Thanks Katie

Re: Engraving outlines?
Using vector - first line starts engrave - next line in turns off engraves, so a single circle with engrave a full circle - a circle with and inner circle with engrave a Polo sweet shape.

Re: Engraving outlines?
Sorry, bit lost there. I don't think i put enough detail into my original post.
I am using Techsoft 2D design to create files, then exporting as DXF or PLT (tried both). Even though it is drawn as an outline in 2D, exported as an outline and shows on screen as an outline, it is still removing all the middle. I have changed the outline colour once imported into lasercut 5.3 and set is as engrave

Re: Engraving outlines?
The outline has to be two lines - not one thick line (the dxf line thickness is ignored).
So draw one line then the inner line to make the boarder.
If you are still stuck PM me your email and I will send a file to explain

Ah, I think I get that. Thanks. So if I drew a line, then contoured inside or outside a fraction? Will this still then raster the outline though?

Re: Engraving outlines?
Yes - it goes on, off, on, off ....
Both lines set to the same layer and 'engrave'

Re: Engraving outlines?
The method I use is to run a cut on a lower power setting so it just cuts a shallow groove in the surface about 1mm deep, this usually gives better detail than engraving

What power settings are you using for this? on acrylic or ply?
