3060 Belt

Post by Shaker21 »

Hi

Does anyone know what type ie. GT2 belt drives the x and Y on a 3060

It Measures 10mm and has 13 TPI

I keep seeing rolls of different open ended belts for like £9.99 for 5m

I understand HPC need to make a profit but nearly £150 for 2 X Y and 1 x X seems a bit steep

Thanks in advance

Hi Steve,

I don't have a definite answer for you, but my experience with other spares (mirrors, lenses) is that "generic" suppliers are very comparable with HPC's spares. If you have time to trawl through Ebay, AliExpress or others, and you're prepared to risk getting the wrong thing, then you'll save a lot of money.

What HPC offer is a "zero thought" solution for schools and larger enterprises. Anyone who simply doesn't have the time or cognitive load to save money should rely on HPC - they will get it right. If you're a sole trader or a tiny business, then every penny counts - so do take the time to seek alternatives.

After you get an alternative you're happy with (I tried a couple of different laser tube suppliers before I hit on one that supplies tubes as nice as HPC's) then you'll be saving money with no compromise on quality - at the cost of taking some time to get it wrong (or at least suboptimal). Final thought - as a rule of thumb, if you're looking at a Chinese supplier who has a "budget" option... don't do it! If one supplier has two or more options, get the lenses, mirrors or whatever that claim to be "high quality" and pay attention to the technical specs. They may be a tenner more expensive, but they'll still be cheaper than HPC!

Please, tell us how you get on with replacement belts - I also have 3060s and I'd like to hear more.

Good luck!

James
