Scrap and waste in the first few months (or even year) should be expected, even now I get it wrong and a full sheet is wasted! ;)

Pop rivets may work but I would cut them down a bit as the longer there are the more chance of the material wobbling when the head moves - downside to less friction keeping the sheet in place.... all part of the fun :-)

No problems ;)

Just change the settings in lasercut - I rarely change the settings on the panel to be honest ;)

Deeper engraving is power but upping the scan gap increases the DPI (equivalent of) so in some cases a mixture of the two depending on what you are trying to do and the quality required ;)

I engrave a lot of plywood and find the scan gap has the biggest effect on depth.

0.1 scan gap 21/400 gives me a depth of approx 0.3mm
0.1 scan gap 30/400 gives me a depth of approx 0.5mm

0.05 scan gap 30/400 gives me a depth of approx 1mm

I personally quite like the effect of a larger scan gap on acrylic, 0.4 or 0.5mm scan gap gives a nice definition to larger text and the visible gaps between each pass look rather cool.
