Fraudulent LS1290 sale

Post by TimothyClaypole »

Not much of a first post but can someone from HPC confirm this is a machine they sold earlier this year via Ebay?

I'm pretty sure I was stood in this spot while looking around when I came for a demo of the LS3060 a while ago and it's looking out onto the outside yard bit with all the wood stacked up etc.

I know chris uses the same images when they are brand new. He has a constant turnover of stock, just too lazy to take more photos :D :P

I looked at it myself on ebay it was on at a really low amount, then disappeared after a few days. Only to appear again later.

What was the scam??

It's on Gumtree for £3100.00 in Edinburgh.

Contacted the seller and he states it's actually in Shetland - give them the benefit of the doubt that there's no Gumtree for Shetland etc.

Gave a collection address and stated repeated they wanted cash on collection... would not give a name or number - stated they were too busy - so they can sent an email saying they are too busy but can't add a name and number.

Then next email ask for bank transfer... err ok... the lights are flashing now... then no replies at all. I was expecting a "working overseas" next.

I'm bidding on a Chinese one on Ebay at the minute, I've put in £9999 as the picture is copied from another listing, 0 feedback seller in Lerwick... sounds familiar.

They have some other machine listed that I can't even work out what it does but a US site has them at $50,000 - so a bargain at 99p start... hoping to win them both.

I've reported the Gumtree and Ebay ones but they've not pulled the ads.

just seen this

eBay scams beware

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi guys just a heads up. I've just been done out of 3 grand for a firewood splitter. Scamming ring set up false eBay acounts they send you a forged email invoice. They set up false eBay helplines so when you ring to check anything you choose options and speak to a false eBay representative. You then pay the money to an eBay holding account which doesn't actually excist and they take that money and run.

I hope nobody else on here was as stupid and gulable as me. Just remember if its too good to be true it probably is. 3 grand for a palax 70 2009 definately was.

Trust nobody !!!!
