Photograv helps you get the perfect settings, but it is very much a trial and error process. What do you want to engrave and on what? Tweakie has done some outstanding work with laser photo engraving, but he uses a home made machine and a CNC control quite unlike anyone elses in the world.

Hi

I photoengrave on my 3020 using coreldraw and corelphoto. Load your photo into corelphoto, find the convert to black and white option and then in the drop down Box you have various 'dithering' options, halftone etc. THere are three with strange names, I can only remember Stucki, but they all convert your picture to dots representing greyscale. Load the result into coreldraw and send to the laser as a bitmap .bmp file. You need to experiment so choose a small photo first.

I use this technique to do stonework, drystone walling etc., for a model railway. I think the technique is explained better elsewhere on this forum
