Leveling the bed on an LS3060

Post by paul_l_curtis »

Hi,

I have an LS3060 and one of Dave's Amazing Pin Beds. Does anybody have instructions for levelling the bed? If I measure the head height above the bed across the X and Y axes, I'm getting a 2mm discrepancy over the long axis and a 0.5mm discrepancy over the short axis. I know the pin bed itself is perfect (and a work of art).

I improved this a bit by unscrewing the bed, loosening the Z drive belt, turning the threads, measuring, re-seating the bed, and then re-measuring heights with a vernier. There must be a better way to do this... Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks!

My 3060 has a rather basic aluminium tray with two u channels screwed to it, onto which the honeycomb bed rests. I loosened these channels and put some packing shims before re-tightening. That helped a bit - its not thou perfect but that won't matter much.

Shim the corners of the pin bed up. Much easier than fart arsing about with the bed.

Chris gave me the following:-

The bed is quite easy to adjust
If you open the front there are 4 lead screws for the bed
At the base of each are the gears with Allen screws tightening them to the screws
Loosen the ones you wish to adjust and only turn the screws to level the bed then re tighten- 2 per gear.

Cheers
