Engraving Text with AutoCad

Hi,
Needing some help!

I Recently bought a 6090 and have been using Auto Cad and saving as dxf for vector cuts, this has been working fine but I now need to make a piece similar to a control panel which will have areas cut out and areas with text engraved. When I draw it up in Cad, save it as dxf and open in lasercut software the vector lines appear but the text does not. Is there a way round this problem as ideally I would still like to use Cad for preparing the files to be machined rather than another drawing package. I'm also looking to cut stenciled lettering, does anyone know of a program that has various fonts that can be interpreted by lasercut?

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

Rubberstamp LET is a great font for stencils Del.

Make sure your text is on a different layer to the vector cuts...see if that makes any difference (also make sure you save in autoicad 2000 dxf format) (or earlier)

I use AutoCAD - and the only way I've found is to use the "EXPLODE" command.
This breaks the letters down to Vector Lines - but it will revert the font to basic AutoCAD default.
You might try changing your settings in AutoCAD (default font) to overcome this.

Alternatively - if you have a 3D CAD package/facility - then create the text box as a model, again "EXPLODING" the text before you extrude the letters - then create a DXF drawing from that!

Mite be daft Del but are you using the same machine to code on and control your 90?

Thought I'd better ask because I had a similar issue using two machines and not having the same range of font's installed on both. I couldn't work out why the bloody thing kept reverting to the def font until I realised Rubberstamp LET wasn't installed on my laser control machine as well as my coding machine ;)

best wishes
