Hi,
About 4 months ago we purchased a Purex 8000 fume extraction unit and it has completely solved our acrylic fumes / neighbour problem. We have now 'aquired' another one with some other equipment we purchased. Cartridges can be bought from Purex for various types of air purification (no need to extract outside) and the unit monitors the exhaust for ghas contents and particulate content. The extraction fans inside are both heavy duty and high pressure, they move a lot of air. The unit is in very clean condition and is not baterred in any way. The units cost in excess of £2000 to buy, anyone interested at £250 ?

Regards - John

How much are the filters, how often do you need to change them, whats the size and model number of the machine?

The filters will depend on what you're cutting and how pure you want the air to be. We have done a massive amount of acrylic cutting and engraving since we got ours and only just now the filter is starting to give a whiff of Acrylic fumes (Remember this unit is not extracting outside, it circulates the air back into the room). I have taken the filter unit apart (slide in cartridge) and it cantains a pleated filter approx 75mm deep and then carbon granules to a depth of around 200 mm, the filter assembly is 360mm square. I intend to repack ours myself, from Purex theyre around the £220 mark.

The rep from Purex visited us when we were first in the market for an extractor, he talked about high pressure pumps etc which I thought was baloney, a fan is a fan! How wrong I was, when you set these going it moves a considerable amount of air and overcomes the drag etc caused by ducting.

I'll get the exact model number tomorrow for you.

Regards - John
P.S. It's heavy - 46 Kg

Model number 8000, dimensions 430mm square, 720mm high. It has an LCD display indicating gas and particulate content and various other information such as vacuum etc etc.

Heres a brochure, it's the first one on the front cover http://www.solderfume.co.uk/DS2-fume_extraction.pdf
