New 50w 6840 owner

Hi all,
I got my LS6840 the other day and have been trying to get my settings right for engraving glass using the rotary. When I engrave on it, the leading edge (the edge it engraves first) is always rough whereas the trailing edge is perfectly smooth. Am I missing a setting? I have gone through so many different ones, speed, Scan Gap, Power etc and seem to get it every time.
