Right the machine is now not cutting properly again, enough is enough, it was in a right state when we got it and I'd nursed it back to life and kept it going for a year and a half but now it's time to upgrade.

We have a few options, the LS-3060 which I understand is similar to my LS-3040 but with better quality components but the same annoying honeycomb that can't quite take an A3 sheet which is fine as I've been working with A4 all this time I'm used to it. Then there's the LS-6040 Pro or the LS-6840 which appears to me to be the most advanced and modern machine HPC offer at that level. It would be great to hit the 600x400mm sheet cutting ability so those machines are a real option for us. The thing is my workshop door is only 64cm wide, which is a right pain in the arse. Is it possible to get either the 6040 or 6840 through that space in easy to assemble parts or am I going to have to get the 3060 because it's the only one that will fit?

Also any advice on which of these machines we should get would be great.

The 6840 will go through a standard door
The 6040 will split in two and go through a door
Both good all round machine Get a 60w upgrade.
The old 3060 were just a bigger 3040
But the newer 3060 are better

Thanks Tom, so the choice then is purely financial it would seem. I'm keen on the 6840 of course and yes the 60W upgrade would be nice.

I'll contact HPC tomorrow and see what they can offer.


I notice all these machines have a motorised Z axis (mine is manual), do they all have autolevelling also?

There is no auto focus on any
But the 6840 has 2 red dots and you set these for the focus

Was just looking at the 60W LS-6450 that Chris has listen on ebay too so will put that in the running.

Gonna give take it to bits and give it a really good clean but I fear she is a goner.

it's VERY easy to add red dots or cross-hairs to any machine

But dial in a focus slope test and make yourself a focus block (or digi vernier - cheap too) and just use the red dot for a rough guide

I wouldn't let red dots sway me to one machine or another

No of course, I was just wondering if it had automatic focus as I wasn't sure.

I pretty much only use 3mm materials so it's not too important.
Have a template .ecp file that is set to the datum so I pretty much never use the red dot.
