hi
I have a ls1290 and 80w tube. recently I have noticed that the further the head is to the left of the bed, the worse the engraving. I did a row of ten invites for someone with some pretty fine fonts used. on the right side the writing was fine and crisp but on the left it was almost unreadable. I had to throw the 4 invites furthest to the left. I have cleaned the mirrors on the arm and head and made sure they are aligned but its still the same. the lens has also been cleaned. I fired the laser with the head at the far right and it left a tiny fine dot in the ply, when I do this at the far left, the dot is twice the size. have you any ideas please.
Thanks Tom
I had just put a large sheet of ply on the bed and thought I would try each corner with a fire of the laser. I started in the near right corner and set the bed to the focusing square and fired a shot. this gave a fine pin prick. I then went to the near left and fired it and it was a bigger hole in the ply. when i went to the far left i noticed the red dot had moved away from its normal position. when i checked the focusing square, it was about 6mm higher. i lifted the bed and found a small piece of 6mm ply was sat on the left runner.
Now all sorted.
phew. thanks again tom for your spot on advice
