Definitely would be a very welcome gizmo!Daven wrote:I have wondered about rigging up some sort of adjustable heat detector that sits in the machine - phillydee - one for you matey

Re: Fire :(
Mine happened on the blades table.. which actually cleaned up surprisingly well since.

Re: Fire :(
there used to be a system for car engine bays where there is an extinguisher connected to a plastic tube. the pressurised tube is placed where there might be flames, (that would be the lid of your laser) and if a fire starts, the tube melts/bursts and puts out the fire.
No idea if you can still get them.

Re: Fire :(
It depends from machine to machine I suspect. You can lift the tray up but make sure you don't trap the head when homing the table (z axis)TimBobTastic wrote:is fire a higher risk on machined with honeycomb beds that sit in a pretty much enclosed tray?
If so... could the enclosed tray be modified so it was more open allowing for a better flow of flammable gasses...
Just thinking aloud really... probably a bad idea for reasons I have not thought of... But I have access to a friendly bunch of sheet metal workers and industry standard 3D CAD... so was wondering if a little design effort could reduce the risk of fire without making big changes to the machine (apart from swapping the honeycomb tray)
I have adapted my 3060 in a way that works really well, can't share at the moment sadly

Re: Fire :(
The problem with fire sensors is the way they work, they either sense IR from the flame source or heat, both of which happen in a laser machine anyways
Best way to avoid fires? watch the machine..hence the big warning stickers on them

no it isn't ???Tom wrote:Once a year that's terrible
I keep it clean all year round, but it gets a full service once a year !
Under the honeycomb gets all sticky .. I've tried lots of ways to get it all of, but I've found a blow torch or heat gun makes light work of it.
I know MDF will burn well once it's caught, but the sticky stuff doesn't burn easily

MDF has a water based glue, use clean water and soapLightnin wrote:no it isn't ???Tom wrote:Once a year that's terrible

I find once it's "baked on" soap and water doesn't touch it.Spooky wrote:

I made a raised honeycomb, and once it's all level, I don't like to disturb it that often.
The way I cut, I don't get debris build up, just this condensed MDF smoke stuff.
The rest of the machine comes clean with a regular wipe over with baby wipes.

Ahh thought you meant you cleaned once a year
