Splines!

Post by joem »

Hi

I've scanned some handwriting in and converted it to vectors using autocad, I then splined (?) the resultant letters to make them all smooth. The problem is that when I import them into lasercut 5.3 (as a DXF), it imports both the spline and the original jerky line connected as one!

Is there any way to convert the splines into a series of polylines and arcs? Or maybe explode the lines in Lasercut so I can untangle them?

Thank you!

I've just figured out a very painstaking workaround.

I use modify, object, polyline, multiple, join (if required).

I also use a script called PLines diet to reduce some of the vertices - may not be the best/right way but it works for me ;-)

Cheers, I've just found the 'convert to polyline' option, I am now kicking myself

Hiya Joe,

When you save the file save it as "Autocad R10.dxf" ,

Release 10 doesn't support splines and will automatically convert them all to polylines :)

It will also ensure the splines are properly joined as they will convert as separate entities if not allowing you to rejoin them where required.

best wishes

Dave
