Unchecking the Immediate Button

Post by Flash »

Hi

I want to use a piece of acrylic in a fixed posistion on the bed as a template for several shapes I will constantly be engraving, this will enable me to cut the shapes out of the acrylic and in the future just open my saved file with all the shapes on, put whatever shape i'm doing into relevant slot on the template, put the text/graphics inside the shape on the screen and know exactly where it is going to engrave.

So far testing has proved fruitless, I have drawn a box on the screen to cut in the top left corner, unchecked 'immediate', saved the file, downloaded the file, pressed test or start and it starts 'immediately' ( I press esc before every new job).

I have got it to work once, but I did that many things (setting origin of laser/set logic org-yes) I can't remember how i did it, also this made my laser rail move fast immediately when pressing the cursor direction buttons and was only cured by switching off then on again.

I'm imagining this would not be to difficult if I knew what I was doing!

Basically I need to know how to set my machine to engrave relative to what is on the screen..... then to put the settings back so I can start engraving 'immediately' again
I thought it sounded simple, but i think its me thats simple!

any help appreciated

Have you tried homing the machine first?

You know it had to be something that simple!, The manual I printed out was pretty much a waste of paper and I couldn't find any info on the www for what I was asking, however this now leads me to more questions...sorry!

-Lets say I'm using the same file but I want one engraved in a specific area ('immediate' unchecked), and on the next one it could be anywhere ('immediate' checked), every time I either check or uncheck the 'immediate' button, in order for the machine to know that, I would need to resave and re load the file, OR is it the fact that i'm pressing datum that the machine checks for the 'immediate' check box? (god i hope that makes sense?!)

-I unchecked the 'immediate' button, and saved, and reloaded, pressed the datum button and upon pressing test it went straight to the posistion I had set it to, now however, although I have checked 'immediate' again etc when I press the directional cursor buttons on the keypad the things flies away without that 2-3 seconds of it being slow, how would I get that back?

I am really sorry if these questions don't make sense, I'm just trying to make some sense out of it all!

Oh and many thanks by the way, I'm a considerable step further in the extremely steep learning curve that keeps getting steeper!

Hi John,
When you save the file save as a name in lasercut then the machine uses the immediate or not so that file has the position.
A good practice is to press datum when you switch on the machine so it knows where 00 is
Thanks ;)
