Why do I have to search forums to discover how my laser works?

Is it just in this type of industry? I spend thousands of pounds to acquire a wonderful piece of technology that comes with a set of instructions that look like they are a primary school project, printed on bits of paper that are pushed into a twenty pence folder. Then when you have read them, you a...

Re: Laser cut 5.3 stalling with large dxf files

Thanks for the advice. The problem with the array function is that it doesn't nest the items which means my costs can sometimes double.

Laser cut 5.3 stalling with large dxf files

Hi everyone I run my 1290 from my laptop using laser cut 5.3 and win 10 I have noticed a few times now that if I import a large dxf file, that has maybe been created in another program, it causes problems in 5.3 which hangs the program. When I click the import button in 5.3, the selection box opens....

Re: Blurred engraving on left side of 1290 bed.

Thanks Tom I had just put a large sheet of ply on the bed and thought I would try each corner with a fire of the laser. I started in the near right corner and set the bed to the focusing square and fired a shot. this gave a fine pin prick. I then went to the near left and fired it and it was a bigge...

Re: Windows 10 Drivers

7. Select the disk drive which the software disk is in (likely drive D) then click OK.

Matthew, is this a new disk we have to get, as its win 10 drivers we need?

Blurred engraving on left side of 1290 bed.

hi I have a ls1290 and 80w tube. recently I have noticed that the further the head is to the left of the bed, the worse the engraving. I did a row of ten invites for someone with some pretty fine fonts used. on the right side the writing was fine and crisp but on the left it was almost unreadable. I...

Re: Laser Ply

hi all I have tried a few suppliers of ply including Lathams, which was rubbish and full of patches where they had cut out knots. that was supposed to be laser ply. it was birch but full of rubbish. I am now using poplar ply that is faced with a thin layer of oroko I think, for a nice colour. it cut...

Re: 4 Inch Focal Length Mirrors

Thanks guys. I have a cnc from prototools that is gathering dust in the shed. I do prefer the speed, quietness and less dust of a laser though. Like I mentioned, some of the test cuts I tried went through like butter but around 60% of them didn't. Hpc only supply up to 12 mm so I used Lathams but it...

Re: 4 Inch Focal Length Mirrors

Hi everyone I have enjoyed reading the information given on this topic as I am keen to increase the cutting performance of my 1290 machine. I have had it for a month or so after upgrading from a 6840. I am keen to start playing around with furniture designs and was hoping to use 18mm ply. I got some...
