Re: Depron

Hi Bob,

Mainly 6mm and 3mm, but also the really thin stuff when I get around to the ultra lightweight indoor model aircraft.

Depron

Hello,

Has anyone cut Depron foam using a laser, I know it can be done, but I'd like to try it myself - so if anyone has the settings I'd very much appreciate it.

Our laser is a LS6840 with a standard 40W tube

Thanks,
Mark.

Re: Hi from Oxford

Hi Endcan,

TPU = Thermoplastic polyurethanes they tend to be either polyester or polyether based.

Kerf, which side of the line?

Another noob question :?

How do I tell the laser which side of the line to cut, and by how much, (apart from hlaf the kerf ;) )

We're using a LS6840 with the Lasercut software, and our cutting files are imported from .dxf files.

Thanks,
Mark.

Cutting thin polycarb sheet

There is a good guide here In fact it says polycarbonate IS hazardous and I think CD's are made from polycarbonate! I've ripped this quote from another thread, and sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, I've looked but found no answer. On the cnczone link, as you say PC is classed as dangerous ...

Hi from Oxford

Hi,

My name's Mark, and the company I work for has recently bought a LS6840, primarily for cutting TPU films upto around 150 micron thick and also plastics upto around 5mm. I hope also to 'purchase' some laser time at weekends for model making :)
