Focal length and cutting performance

I am trying to explain how my old 40 watt 3040 ( just sold ) was able to cut so much quicker than my current spec 60 watt machines. For example 3mm laser ply that HPC say will cut at 30mm per sec on a 60 watt machine, does just that on my 60 watt machines. No problem there then. So why does my old 4...

Re: Making a living

There may be a good living to be made if you can find a niche, something original that nobody else is doing. Don't be afraid to experiment. If you find it, then trade on the novelty factor for a while, enjoy the ' never seen that before ' comments while you can. Unfortunately, the more successful yo...

Re: Turned down :(

Take the moral high-ground here. Your work is obviously too original / good for Not On The High Street. I have seen very little interesting / original laser based work on NOTHS and what is there seems massively overpriced for what it is. How about we start a site for truly original and exclusive wor...

Re: Hi from Simon

Sorry if I am the bearer of bad news Simon, But in my knowledge of Newlydraw, a combined cut - engrave file is not possible. It will only perform either on its own. There is no layers facility. If anybody knows otherwise, than I will be delighted to know, and may get more use from my neglected ( and...

Re: Couple of questions to all LS3020 users

Always use a black water container. No light means no bacterial growth and contamination. I use a full size black dustbin with tight lid, a small hole cut for the tubes. I only change the water by routine, not necessity. The last water was still clean after 12 months.

Re: laser pauses itself

I will try this tomorrow, but the problem occurs with both imported dxf's and bitmaps, which have worked perfectly for years. This is an old machine, on lasercut 5.0. What is likely to malfunction through old age ? ( apart from the owner ! ) Issues earlier this week were solved by downloading the co...

Re: laser pauses itself

Yes, delete all at download tab and try any file, the same happens. I tried it off another pc, to eliminate that, and the same happens.

laser pauses itself

Help !! Any job that I send to the laser seems fine, then the laser stops abruptly, the message on the keypad reading 'paused, press start to continue'. No pressing of any button can get you out of this. You can only turn the machine off and try again, but the same happens. I have tried downloading ...

Re: No power to psu .

Correct myself - power to PSU, because an led is lit, but no power to the tube . All connections are tight. Everything else happens - laser head moves and thinks that it is cutting, just no laser beam.
