Cutting fabrics and textiles

The textiles teacher at my school has been eyeing up my newly installed 6840 laser cutter!!! She wants to know what fabrics can be cut, and what power & speed settings? Any one any experience with this? I was wondering how well it would cut if the fabric is not flat. Do you need to masking tape ...

Re: I can't get my LS6840 to work!!

The USB lead!!! It's a blue lead with a USB connector plugged into the PC, easy to pull out! Follow it back to the laser cutter & it disappears into a circular hole in the back. Open the side / end panel & the blue lead appears to go into a whole load of cables! The USB lead doesn't appear t...

Re: I can't get my LS6840 to work!!

Thanks Phil.

The USB cable isn't long at all but I get the feeling you may be right about the problem being something to do with the cable itself.
Would you suggest trying with a completely different USB lead?

Re: I can't get my LS6840 to work!!

Thanks Dave, I'll get the tecky guys on this....this sounds a possible / likely cause. Having said that we've tried drawing directly in / onto the programme using the tools on the tool bar & the same thing happens....click the download button & the error message comes up. The other problem w...

Re: I can't get my LS6840 to work!!

I'll need to check but I'm fairly certain they changed the USB lead.
They had to re load the software from the CD / disc supplied with the laser cutter.
Exactly the same problems.
