No, shopping for a machine now and a 1290 is looking favourite. Heard of some problems with RCDs on some machines that are poorly earthed. Some photos of wiring you see for some machines show only two of the three connections made on the back of the incoming power sockets, some show a separate groun...

Do the HPC machines make their earth through the earth wire on the plug or do they have a spike to hit into the ground? Anyone had any problems running one on a ring main that has an RCD?

Thanks, most helpful as always Dave. If you get the taper optimised, do these machines hold their position well if not moved or jolted? Or could you be spending an hour a day and a lot of wasted material to get parts that fit together? How good are the adjustments on the mirrors as supplied for fine...
