Chipping Bottom edge 3mm acrylic

We just had our LS3040 installed after Christmas and there has been a few problems along the way. These thankfully have been resolved but one remains. I keep getting small chips on the bottom edge of 3mm acrylic. We have tried a variety of different power/speed settings but they still remain. The engineer who resolved a previous problem suggested the cause might be the laser reflecting back off the honeycomb bed so to keep the protective coating on the acrylic. This didnt work, so tried putting down a sheet of ply between acrylic and the bed, this also was not completely effective though the number of chips slightly reduced. We are starting an enterprise club with the intention of selling laser cut products so want to acheive the best possible finish.

Any suggestions will be welcome.

Thanks

I use spacers about 3mm to raise the perspex off the bed which helps - if you get the power right it will stop the reflection.

Cheers
