side guide lubrication

Hi all
Not been here for a while, things have been going well . I will soon be doing a major clean and drain on our LS6090 prior to the school summer holidays. I notice the side guides (tracks) that the cross arm moves backwards and forwards on, are looking as though they need lubricating. Is there a preferred lubricant for these or is a general purpose grease adequate?

I use Mobil Vactra 2. Purely because its used at work If its good enough for £1M machines, its good enough for my lasers .

Else, use a 3-in-1 oil. Do not use WD40, its not a lubricant. Same for grease, its a bit too heavy, you want something light that will work its way under the wipers. This should really be done a couple of drops weekly. And everytime you wipe the slideways down.

I have just bought some silicone oil as this seems to come up on the forum as a good lubricant, apparently its not to harsh/abrasive on anything that's not metal i.e plastics unlike WD40

The Oil i used is Silicone Gun Oil and was fairly cheap http://stores.ebay.co.uk/lubesetc

I have only used so far on my table rise threads but it seems to lubricate well.
