Hi, we have a problem with laser etching lettering out of a predominantly black background of thermark spray on brushed stainless steel. We are experiencing a banding effect, across the lettering from left to right there is a tone difference to the area between the lines, ie light and dark. It looks like a brush stroke effect, I would like to know if anybody else has had this and whether it can be overcome. We have tried different speed and heat settings but the effect remains to a lesser or more degree. Could it be a fault with the laser? We have not experienced this with another make of laser on the same application and therefore did not anticipate this with the LS6090.

There are many different reasons why this can happen but from past experience one of the most common causes is a voltage drop on the incoming mains supply.

You could check that you are using good amperage cables without adapters etc that could have poor connection (high resistance) also make sure you don't have a high current device like a heater etc thermostatically controlled on the same circuit.
