repeat 5 passes with one click, this might help someone!!!

Post by Baldmonkey »

I do a lot of cuts on my machine and since the start have had to start the cut then when that has done restart it by pressing start again, it has grown very annoying that i couldnt just click the button and it would automatically do 5 passes before the need to press start again.

I searched for the copy section and when i tried it the machine tried to go 6 foot to the left for some reason and i could not for the life o me figure out how to do it via the copy buttons.

Then it finally dawned on me how to do it, and this is how i do it-

1, cutting out a simple heart for example from a piece of 5mm obeche hardwood generally takes 5-7 passes for me @ 50mms 90%p

2, go to the top toolbar and under options uncheck "shift on paste"

3, highlight your heart and click the copy button then the paste button, this will paste a copy of the heart directly on top of the original, continue to click paste until you have the correct amount of hearts that equal the number of passes you want.

4, go to edit and click select all which chooses all the hearts.

5, start the engraving as normal and you will find that the laser will do the aamount of passes equal to the number of shapes you have.

Hope this really helps someone out as it was frustrating for me, and if it is standard knowledg how to do this then sorry for stating the obvious

I do multiple passes using the same method, but did not know about the shift on copy, I have just been editing the sizes by hand!

I use the multiple copy function extensively, and pretty sure I made a topic on it somewhere.

Good tip Monkey. I usually get annoyed with myself when the machine makes a double pass because it means that I forgot to delete all duplicate vectors - never thought of using this to good effect though. ;)

what i have found to be a good tip tweakie is when i do a copy and paste, the colour of the cut line changes slightly to a thicker line of the same colour, when i have cut what i need to i just click back/undo till i see the cut line change back to the thinner fainter line and know im back at one copy ;)
