How much power usage?

Post by tietheknot »

Hello all,
This might sound like a very cheeky question!
I'm after your worldly advice on how much extra power your laser uses in your home/workspace/unit etc
Have you noticed a large extra in your electricity bills?

I'm the owner of a LS6840 with a 60w tube, it's only run when i need it as there's no point in it running with no jobs!

Obviously i'm aware there is the extractor & water pump to consider too.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

very little :)

my 1290 with an 80 watt tube hasn't changed my electric bills that I've noticed and I run the waterpump 24/7 as well as a 7/100 compressor.

best wishes

Dave

Thanks Dave!
Really appreciate it - finally got to grips with the machine now, needless to say, everyone got wooden tree decorations for xmas :D

Any other replies would be super helpful!

I think I clocked my ls3020 inc pc at 500w cutting. Not a lot really!

Thanks guys, this really helps!
I'm being told the electricity bill has risen £150-200 pcm and needless to say, my laser is getting the blame!
Thought i might as well be cheeky and ask for others input.
Any more info will be a lifesaver :)

I will get a hour meter hooked up onto the laser tomorrow and do an hour or so worth of engraving and cutting for you.

This is with a 40W tube, including an ITX PC, lcd monitor, and a different extractor fan (Apparently only 33W or so).

Thank you SO much :)
I did work some figures out using an online thing where you put in all the items info and it said a meer £7 per month if it's running 24 hours a month (to be honest that's probably a good amount i'm using at the moment)
Obviously i need some back up evidence! My tube is 60W and i have the bofa filter running.
Thanks guys, i always know where to come!

Tell you what, I can get the plug sent to you tomorrow (They are only a tenner or so at various places) if you like.
Send me your address in a PM and as long as you agree to send it back in a couple of weeks (no rush), then you can borrow it :).

I think there is too much difference between mine and yours to get a reliable check!

Thanks for the offer, but after you mentioned it,
My mum had two turn up from British gas, but I don't think it can narrow down one machine
Running, am I just being thick or can you get ones that measure single items?

Are you thinking one of these:
http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalo ... IABEPICMAQ#

Or one of these:
http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalo ... JgBEPMCMAM#

Its the second I have.

The first monitors your whole house by clamping on one of the meter tails. The second will measure everything that goes through the plug.
