When you have aligned the number of machines Chris has I guess it becomes 2nd nature

I've never been able to figure in my head what difference the tube level makes ?
it could be off by 45 deg and you'd still be able to get a dead strait level beam from mirror X to mirror Y
which is what really matters
EDIT .. as long as you can hit mirror 1 dead center
I may be wrong but it could be to do with the profile of the beam - keeping it level gives a better spot profile.
If the tube is too low but is level you need to lower the 1st mirror or raise the tube - tilting it may work but there may be a small loss in power.
