Lasercut5.3 dongle not working. Driver? Config?

Post by JamesW »

Hello!

I have a question about Lasercut5.3 dongles.

I have two HPC lasers, a 3060 and a Laser One (6090). I set up the 3060 first.

Then, I started using the 6090, Setup was straightforward. I simply cloned the whole of my copy of Windows XP (which lives in a virtual machine) and copied the 6090 software onto it. The same software dongle I used for the 3060 worked no problem.

So they share the same dongle! It's marked WHCX-LASER1 2013 - and it was supplied with the 3060.

But now I want to deploy the two machines in different places, so I dug out the Laser One's dongle, and tested it. It doesn't work! It's marked WHCX-LASER. I suspect it's an earlier dongle version.

Is there some driver or config file that I need to install to get it working? Something that my software installation overlooked?

Thanks,

James

Hi James,

Give HPC a call - they may have an early copy still and you will need the config file for the 6090 if you don't have it.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for this pointer. In fact, I did have the 6090 install software, and I ended up realising didn't need to install anything else!

Looking at Devices > USB, I saw that the newer dongle is called Senselock Elite4 2x [0303] and the older one is listed separately, and is called Senselock Sense IV2.x [0300].

All I needed to do was to tick the second one to get it to work. (I've changed the USB settings so it gets ticked on insertion).

Now I've freed up each laser to deploy separately ― and I've discovered that each dongle can drive either machine, so it doesn't even matter which dongle goes with which machine! This might not be true if I was working with the OLD machine's install configuration - I don't know whether the newer dongle is backwards compatible with the older software config.

Thanks again,

James
