Banding Issues

Post by ncamacho2000 »

Hi All

I quite often get some banding issues on my 6040 (40watt) it tends to be when i engarave a large area, i have recently tried to complete some rubber (as in the picture) wierdly it didnt happen the first time i engraved but the since i have made some adaptations and saved the file it seems to happen, I have tried resaving it with some changes but no joy i have rotated the piece and this has sorted most of it. I have recently had a new tube too. The image is a vector saved from corel draw

is this likely to be a hardware issue or is it down to a corrupt file in laserscript??? any ideas???

If I remember right the banding is to do with DPI mismatch.

I use GIMP to process the image first adding dither and and re-size the image to the size it needs to be engraved at. Start with the scan gap to 300dpi and don't set the speed too fast (around 250).

It was inported from corel draw as dxf file its a basic vector drawing but has been resized in laserscript didnt realise this would cause an issue though. Ill try to keep it the same size, i have been having some power issues and thinking it may be the air assist playing up, but could be the changes im making, thanks

A dxf will scale ok so I don't think it's that!

Air assist could be the culprit - what material, speed, power and scan gap settings are you using?

Hi All

Just thought i would repost now i have hopefully sorted the banding issues, i phoned HPC and they sent out a new power supply fitted it but made no difference, i decided to drive the machine ls6040 up to them and leave it there for there engineers to look at. (they aint light especially with the cabinets)

It seems the tube was faulty along with some earthing and my own wiring wasn't quite up to scratch on the tube installation, so new tube and wiring and it seems to be running alot better now, thanks for all your help. To be honest i never would of got to the bottom of it on my own, thank god for this forum and the fact that these machines have some back up from the sellers.

Cheer Nigel
