HELP Lasercut 5.3 problem - LS3060

Post by clockwork »

Hi there from a new LS3060 user - can anyone help please.
Machine : LS3060 and lasercut 5.3

Have experienced two problems possibly related

(1) laser cutting over size to drawing irrespective of material orientation on table. Up to 2% over dimension.
Belts, mirrors and drive mechanics checked before operation. No alterations made to software settings.
Only just dicsovered problem when manufacturing dimensionally critical components.

(2) TODAY unable to load any file in any format into laserscript 5.3. Screen displays the message
'laser print driver module has encountered a problem and needs to close'

Awaiting correct software disc being sent from HPC but in the meantime would welcome comments.

Thanks in anticipation - CLOCKWORK

Hi Clockwork

My 3060 also seems to cut about 2% oversize - not a great problem but if you find a fix could you let me know please?

Many thanks

In Lasercut I'm sure theres a setting in options that adjusts how many steps per cm or something similar, you may be able to adjust it there.

When you say oversize are you talking about the hole in the material or the piece removed from the material? You have to compensate for the width of the laser. On my 6040 I use 0.75mm as compensation so if I want a hole to be 100 mm square I actually cut at 100.15 mm square. It's quite easy to do using the offset within the software. Holes are offset to the inside, pieces cut out offset to the outside, could it be this thats tricking you?

Hi John

It's the piece removed that's oversized - if I was to draw a 200mm X 200mm square and cut it, it would probably turn out about 202mm square.

There's a setting that controls the cut size in LaserCUT, I'm just trying to remember where it is, it's a rudimentary form of backlash elimination...

I'll see if I can find it :)

"Gap on xy axis" under "Options/work mode/Cut" in Lasercut 5.3

This affects the number of X steps Vs Y steps...

Change at your peril and be prepared for a call fee out if you get it wrong :)
