Hello all. LS 3020 user. Mainly for fun.

Hello all.

I've had my 3020 since 2013. Used lightly for prototyping and enjoyed the simplicity of it.

However. During a full power job on Friday, it made an odd pop sound (which sounded a bit like when foam catches fire momentarily) so I didn't worry. The job continued and seemed to be fine.

Then I turned the power right down to do some light engraving. The job was destroyed. The laser seemed to be stuck at mid to high power. The control knob has no effect.

Any ideas? Happy to replace any parts.

Thanks in advance.

Hi - sounds like the potentiometer (power control knob) has blown - give HPC and check with them, they should have spares ;)

Cheers
Dave

I know they go wrong sometimes and the symptoms sounds about right but worth confirming with HPC ;)

Thanks HPC.

It was the control knob (potentiometer) that had failed. Called on Monday. Fixed by Tuesday 9:30am. In time for me to laser some parts for an F1 team.

Thanks guys.
