Re: Problem cutting

UPDATE:

I have now fitted my new laser tube and now my laser is cutting everything perfectly and I am back to using the same speeds and power as when I first got it. So now it is good as new! :D

Re: Problem cutting

Hi. I am currently having the EXACT same problem, it;s cutting through perfectly on some parts and not all the way through on others, I'm getting almost a dotted line sometimes. I contacted HPC and they said it is probably the laser tube so I am pleased to hear someone else had the diagnosis and cha...

Re: Cutting White Card

I have had this issue. I bought a whole load of white cards and envelopes and they are really sooty when cut. The best card I've had is some coloured card I bought from WHSmith. It was pricey but no soot, just a bit of a brown edge.

Re: Ridiculous ideas

I told someone I could engraved bananas so he asked me to engrave some with his kid's names on. I also used mirrored acrylic to make a custom mirror for a budgie that had it's name engraved on it to hang in it's cage.

Re: Fumes

I bought a carbon filter to help with the acrylic fumes. When I fitted it and first tried it I put my nose to the filter and was amazed to smell absolutely nothing coming out of it. I was very pleased it works so well. Of course because the laser isn't air tight some fumes still come out from around...

Re: Mirror acrylic - where to buy

I have bought mirrored acrylic from a few different places and have had mixed results. The best I ever got was from eBay, the same company as Dave recommended I think. I would say do not buy from a company called 'Plastic Sheets'. I saw that they had great prices so I bought a sheet in every colour ...

Re: Laser Ply

Hi The first laser ply I bought was from HPC when I bought my laser which was birch ply and it was great. I then bought some poplar plywood from Kitronik because poplar ply is cheaper and quicker to cut because it is less dense than birch and I didn't need it to be strong for what I was using it for...
