Re: 3060 vs. 3050 vs. ...
I will second the 80W power for engraving. It really is the upper limit, so line engraving must be at 11%, which can give pretty deep results! I tend to leave the laminates to my smaller 6840 with 60W tube as it gives better image quality. The 80W is a little too powerful for laminates (it works, b...

Re: Cutting Quality
Just to add, your be surprised how much difference a nicely lubricated bearing and rail can make to the quality of a cut. DONT use WD40 !!. Instead use a good quality silicone lubricant. with the Epilog's I used to work with we used to apply a small dap of silicone grease for linear rails, however f...

optics alignment problems
Ok so I've got a job on engraving nearly 200 acrylic blocks and I'd thought I'd give the old 3020 a good clean and fettle. Now I'd thought I'd give the optics alignment some attention and was shocked how bad it was and that I had been using it like that. Now I know its generally believed that if you...

Nope, wont engrave eithier.
Anodised aluminim marks well, bit like the logo's on the back of an Ipod. There are thermal marking pastes available that you apply to metals, but Im unsure if there's any that are suitable for Aluminium.
