Re: AutoCAD Grid

you are using it all wrong, You don’t need to use or reference the global co-ordinates or ever use the grid, I have used AutoCAD for years and have never given a care as to where my drawing is placed in the global co ordinate system or on or off the grid. You should be using the object snap properti...

Re: Cloudy residue after engraving cast acrylic

Extruded acrylic easily cracks with cleaning agents IPA etc, AFAIK cast acrylics don’t crack... You can use cleaning agents on extruded, just don’t soak it in the stuff, I normally dab it on the cloth and then rub the cloth on another surface until it’s just barely damp. You need to specify what you...

Re: Laminate - film on or film off ?

This is pretty much the only stuff I work with, I cut everything with the film on, it saves clean up time. Engrave with the film off for best results. Some materials I also cut back to front as it gives a better cut through the top material. For locating on the bed I use masking tape stuck to the be...

Re: New Mirror mounts.

A few guys have modded the existing mirrors with thumb screws and spring mounts. Here is a picture of the mods I did to mine, http://laserscript.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=88&start=20 I have seen a better job by someone else on this forum since doing this though so doing some searching...

Re: What a difference alignment makes . . . .

The hardest thing with a new mahcine is knowing what is the best you should be able to achieve and how to achieve it.
I am getting there slowly too, my alignment is pretty good at the moment, extra air has helped too.. need to get a chiller now

Re: Getting More Air

Hi Dave, yes I know , trying to do things on the cheap often ends up costing (me) more. There is enough improvement with what I have done and I would say it was worthwhile, but I am not doing all the cutting work that some guys here do. When I get a new bigger machine I will definitely look at getti...

Getting More Air

Just some feedback for those who might go down the same route of trying to get more air on the cheap. I have installed a second Chinese air pump, the flow rate is meant to be twice as much as the one that came with the machine, same make. The way I have set it up is to run both compressors on parall...

Re: Laser paper and card

I need more air too, I just spoke with Chris about compressors; he recommended looking for one on eBay and specifically suggested Hailea ACO-380

Otherwise I know Dave has got a really nice compressor from Machine mart, but they are another investment.
